Mission #4: Be smart about screen time
Did you know? Too much screen time can cause weight gain, lower grades, poor sleep and weaker muscles and bones. Screen time includes: TV, computer, video games, smart phone and tablet.
What can you do?
- Start by cutting back on screen time by 30 minutes each day. Have mom or dad help with screen time limits by setting a timer. You can also use apps to monitor time spent on smart phones.
- Ask you child to come up with activities they can do in place of watching TV, playing video or computer games, etc. Remember to include some inside activities to do on a rainy day!
Make a goal for your family! Write down 10 ideas for non-screen time activities and keep it on your refrigerator or somewhere you will see it often. Check out this website for 4 ways to help cut back on screen time.
