Pediatric Biobank and Analytical Tissue Core
The Pediatric Biobank and Analytical Tissue Core provides quality-controlled banking of human pediatric tissues for clinical trials, researcher-driven projects, and future, undetermined research projects. Examples of specimens banked include: blood, benign and malignant tumors, vascular anomalies, bone marrow aspirate, developmental malformations, normal tissue, placenta, DNA, RNA, and cryo-preserved cell lines. The bank also offers nucleic acid extraction.
Operated by the Pediatric Pathology Division at the Medical College of Wisconsin and Children's Research Institute, the Pediatric Biobank is open to all investigators at collaborating institutions. The Pediatric Biobank receives major support from the MACC fund and the CRI.
Investigators may request specimens by obtaining IRB approval, presenting the approval to the Pediatric Biobank's Medical Director, Dr. Jason Jarzembowski, MD, PhD and filling out a specimen request form.
Investigators may request nucleic acid extraction by contacting Dr. Tara Sander, PhD at the Nucleic Acid Extraction Core (414-266-2525).
For additional information regarding the core's policies or resources, contact the Pediatric Biobank's technician, Matthew Weyer, at (414) 955-2464.
Core hours: 8 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday
