24-hour pH-impedance probe test
This test is used to evaluate a patient for gastroesophageal reflux disease. It involves passing a small flexible tube with sensors through the child’s nose and down into the esophagus. The tube is attached to a recording device that tracks acid reflux, how fluids and foods move in the esophagus, and air expansion of the esophagus. The tube can be placed while your child is awake, and your child may be able to go home after the tube is in place.
